Miles was selected to serve as Executive Director of Impact because of his commitment to outreach, community engagement, and representing the mission and values of LCEC beyond competition performance. He has demonstrated the ability to connect with others, communicate the purpose of the organization, and understand that the true strength of FIRST is not only found in building robots, but in building people and creating meaningful change within the community.

This role requires leadership, organization, communication, storytelling, and the ability to help others understand the broader impact of engineering, mentorship, and STEAM education. Miles has shown the potential to help lead these efforts while continuing the strong outreach tradition that has become a major part of LCEC’s identity and recognition within the FIRST community.

The Executive Director of Impact is responsible for overseeing outreach initiatives, community partnerships, public engagement, Impact Award development, and organizational storytelling. This role helps ensure that LCEC continues to positively influence students, schools, families, and the broader community while maintaining a strong presence within FIRST Impact Award recognition and outreach excellence.

This position also serves an important role in preserving the culture and mission of LCEC. Outreach is not viewed simply as volunteer hours or public appearances, but as a way to inspire future generations, expand access to STEAM opportunities, and strengthen the relationship between engineering and the community. The Executive Director of Impact helps communicate that vision both internally and externally.
