The La Cañada Engineering Club has always been a place I have been able to call home. A place where I have found amazing people, had fun, and learned invaluable lessons about engineering as well as myself. FIRST is a great program yet far more intricate than I could have ever envisioned. In my first two years with LCEC, I took a relatively passive seat on the FTC team, testing the waters until my third year where I jumped into the deep end as FTC 21525 Captain where I, admittedly, got burnt. However, this isn’t to say that the season was a complete failure. I took the season as a way to expand my knowledge as far as possible, continuing into the off-season. Using the lessons learned from this season, I have dedicated myself to finally sending our FTC team to worlds for the second time in club history. I have already been in contact with club mentors to prepare for the upcoming season where I plan to begin in the summer to provide the team with all prerequisite knowledge and skills for a successful season. However, FIRST is more than just a robot competition. Aside from achieving a successful season, I want to make this an enjoyable experience for all members. Throughout the season I plan to organize team bonding activities to foster a good relationship between all members that will allow our team to work together to make a great season. Leadership doesn’t just take planning though, it takes commitment. I understand that a season like this will take lots of time and am willing to put aside the time necessary to create an amazing season, even if it means sacrificing time in my other activities. This also means I will be committed to helping run LCEC outreach activities just like last season. I will not only assist in the planning and execution of our robot, but I will assist in club outreach activities to the best of my abilities. With my experience with these events in previous seasons, I feel confident that I can put my best effort into these activities to ensure success not only for my team, but the club as a whole. I don’t want the La Cañada Engineering Club to simply be a place where we build cool robots, I want it to feel as welcoming for everyone as it has been for me and is why I am running for FTC 5921 captain. Thank you and vote Milo Lin for FTC 5921 captain.
