Hi LCEC Board Members,

My name is Heath Chung, and it would be my pleasure to become the Director of Operations of the La Canada Engineering Club! 

I am the ideal candidate for this job because I already have leadership/work experience through my involvement in leading Orchestras as concert master, managing the Science Olympiad club as its co-President, and working independently as an interpreter. Being an interpreter has taught me to think on my feet, especially when I was unable to understand the person I was interpreting for, and I had to use context clues to deliver the proper words successfully. Leading an Orchestra and managing the Science Olympiad club has taught me to communicate, be organized, and to listen to everyone I work with, but most importantly, in these positions, I have made and learned from mistakes. Every misstep I made in these positions has taught me to be a better-organized and prepared person for the future. I ran the Science Olympiad 2024-25 Season Google Drive, the Science Olympiad Gmail account, and managed the registration of several invitational competitions. I have always had a passion for engineering whether it's with screws or legos, which was further fostered with the LCEC FLL program in 7th grade, FTC in 8th grade, and FRC this year in 10th grade.

As Director of Operations, I promise to always fulfill my duties before the due dates, communicate well with others, and be a kind person to work with. I hope that I can help the club organize for next season and bring another successful year with my contributions. Thanks to my ability to learn quickly and improve myself, I can guarantee that I am the ideal candidate for Director of Operations. I would be grateful for the opportunity to give back to the club that has helped me grow since 7th grade!
